WHAT IS LUCID DREAMING?

Do you remember all the initial excitement about Virtual Reality (VR)? Over a decade ago it was predicted that by now our leisure time would be spent exploring alternate worlds and having adventures as secret agents, powerful warriors or even real-life Casanovas ... all as if we were “really there” using VR.
Well obviously, the technology never quite got there ... and maybe never will. But, did you know that there are a few men and women who enjoy NATURAL “virtual reality” adventures without using any technology? These fortunate people have harnessed the power of what is known as “lucid dreaming.”
But lucid dreaming is normally a rare experience. Although most people report having had at lest one lucid dream in their life, only an estimated 20 percent of claims to have lucid dreams as often as once a month or more. And many have never had a lucid dream.
What are Lucid Dreams?
The current notion of a lucid dream is a “dream in which one is conscious that they are dreaming.” This is in contrast to a non-lucid dream, in which the dreamer is not aware of being in the dream state.
Unlike “normal” dreams -- which are often hazy and often forgotten the second you wake up -- lucid dreams are special. In a lucid dream you are “awake within the dream.” You know you're dreaming, yet the world around you seems as “real” as the one you're in now.
What is Dreamed?
Many lucid dreamers claim their dreams are tied to sexual content, and that actual physical feelings are related to their lucid dreams.
However is seems more likely that the content of lucid dreams, like any other type of dream, are very much related to the dreamer’s state of mind and subconscious content or concerns.
There is evidence, however, that one CAN learn to direct the content of their dreams. So, whether you want to fly a fighter aircraft, fly through the air to visit Paris, or play guitar onstage with your favorite band, you may be able to do it in a lucid dream. And if you do, the evidence is tht it will seem as real as anything you have ever done ... and you'll clearly remember it upon awakening.
I feel the greatest advantage of lucid dreaming is that it can be used to focus one’s subconscious mind on positive, success-affirming personal images. As you likely realize, your subconsciously mind virtually cannot tell the difference between vivid “imaginary events, and actual events. So lucid dreams may be a great addition to your “personal development tool kit.”
